Abstract
NestEase is an ergonomically optimized, height-adjustable baby crib designed to support caregivers experiencing postpartum pain or limited mobility.
Our design prioritizes human factors engineering by ensuring comfort, ease of access, and intuitive use for diverse user groups.
Through iterative low- and high-fidelity prototyping, we validated key features such as adjustable height, safety locks, and one-handed access.
We conducted user testing at a CU Boulder clinical simulation lab, gaining direct feedback from real caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Their insights informed crucial design changes, including handle positioning, crib transparency, and safe reach zones.
Our team aligned the design with ASTM safety standards, ensuring regulatory compliance for future product development.
Mechanical components were optimized for durability and simplicity, using accessible materials suitable for mass production.
The final prototype balances aesthetics and function, integrating caregiver-friendly storage and clear visibility of the infant.
NestEase demonstrates how engineering, empathy, and standards compliance can converge to create a safe, user-centered infant care solution.
